Geralt Making a Comeback To Dominate Again?

By
Witcher 4 Release Date, System Requirements, and More

So, what is the Witcher 4 Release date? The video game developers at CD Projekt Red have confirmed the existence of The Witcher 4 after years of rumors and speculation. However, they have not yet established a release window.

This confirmation is seven years after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was first released on PC and consoles to widespread critical acclaim and just a few months after the release of The Witcher season 2 on Netflix.

CD Projekt has spent the last several years working on Cyberpunk 2077. However, it seems it is ready to turn at least some of its emphasis to the production of the next Witcher game. To find out more, keep reading!

The developers have not announced the release date of the new Witcher game, Witcher 4 yet. Nevertheless, based on the rumors and speculation surrounding the game, it may not be available until 2025 or possibly 2026.

One thing is certain; The Witcher will return. Also, the developers have announced a new story arc and gaming engine.

Due to a business strategy study prepared by CD Projekt Red, we can confidently state that another installment in The Witcher series video game franchise is now in development. However, we do not know when The Witcher 4 will be released. Beginning in 2022, CD Projekt Red will use a parallel AAA game development plan.

First things first, let’s try to contain our enthusiasm. CD Projekt RED has made it plain in a blog post that “no more specifics” concerning a “release date” are available. However, the studio has confirmed that it is working on The Witcher 4, which is currently in production.

To put that into perspective, the first trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 was released seven years before they launched the game. Only two years before the launch of The Witcher 3, CD Projekt RED released a teaser titled “Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Title Reveal” to infuse the situation with a modicum of optimism.

Hence, it is safe to assume that we have at least a few years to go until The Witcher 4 is released. Mark your calendars for 2024 at the earliest, but it will most likely be later.

Witcher 4 System Requirements

Pfft, this is going to be a challenge for sure. People had a hard time getting Cyberpunk 2077 to operate properly. So in around four years from now, we have no idea what type of mythical beast will be required to run The Witcher 4, and we shake to think about it.

As a point of reference, the base requirements for playing Cyberpunk 2077 are as follows:

  • An Intel Core i5-3570K or AMD FX-8310 processor
  • 8 gigabytes of RAM
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 or AMD Radeon RX 470 GPU

Meanwhile, the recommended specifications include a CPU that is either an Intel Core i7-4790 or an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, 12 gigabytes of RAM, and a Radeon RX 590, GTX 1060 6GB, or GTX 1660 Super.

Given how far away The Witcher 4 is, we suspect that Nvidia’s RTX 30-series graphics cards will find their way into these rankings.

Witcher 4 Trailer

There is no trailer available for The Witcher 4 at this time. The only still picture we have to go off at the time is this one. Along with the blog post, CD Projekt Red distributed an image across all its most important social media networks.

It should be no surprise that there has been no confirmation on the platforms that The Witcher 4 will support. However, we believe CD Projekt Red will use current-gen hardware. Hence, the likelihood of releases on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC is quite high.

Witcher 4 Rumors

Witcher 4 Rumors

Here are some Witcher 4 rumors:

The Witcher 4 to Be an Epic Games Store Exclusive?

According to CDPR’s official statement, the company “is not intending on making the game unique to one shop,” even though Epic Games developers want so.

Strangely, the studio would want to explain anything like that. However, when CDPR made the first announcement about The Witcher 4, they said the next Witcher game would be on Unreal Engine 5 rather than the studio’s in-house REDengine.

Since CD Projekt also owns the GOG website, it would be strange if they did not offer the Witcher 4 via that platform. Also, if you’re asking whether or not the game will be on Steam. In that case, the answer to that question is that CDPR hasn’t clearly said anything about that.

CIRI to Be in The Witcher 4?

You can’t rule out the possibility. Depending on the path you choose after The Witcher 3, Ciri’s tale may go in a variety of directions. For example, after Geralt gives Ciri a silver blade, the two spend time together on The Witcher Path, often regarded to be the greatest possible conclusion to the game.

Further supporting the book-to-game adaptation of Ciri’s character, CD Projekt Red discussed the character in 2020. As for the elements of Ciri’s tale that the developers cut from The Witcher 3, the developers have noted, “Maybe it’s something we’ll get to address in the future.”

CDPR has been forthright about Geralt’s absence from the protagonist role in the next Witcher game even before The Witcher 3 was released. CDPR CEO Marcin Iwiski said in 2021 that “with the third episode, we should tie it up and resolve many strands. We aren’t going to wipe out humanity and then disappear, but we do want to go out with a bang in this last game.”

John Mamais, the show’s executive producer, also said that Geralt could make a brief appearance. “All we have to do is have a conversation and figure out what we’re going to do next,” the speaker said. Geralt can adapt to every situation. For example, he might appear in storylines set before or after the events of CDPR’s trilogy, given that he has a lengthy life expectancy (he’s over 90 in The Witcher 3).

The Next Witcher Game Won’t Be Called The Witcher 4

It’s safe to say that the next major Witcher game won’t have a number 4 anywhere on it, no matter what shape it takes. Marcin Iwinski, one of the founders of CDPR, has made it very apparent that the developer considers the first three games to be a self-contained trilogy. For example, during an investor call in 2017, he said that people originally thought of “The Witcher” as a trilogy and that “a trilogy cannot have a fourth chapter.”

This explanation could seem of little importance, yet, its primary purpose is to ensure that the appropriate expectations are established for the activities to follow. For example, there will not be a role for Geralt in the hypothetical future installment of The Witcher. Moreover, it’s also possible that it may be much different in more basic ways than we currently assume.

It may take place on another continent, in a different historical period, or maybe it doesn’t even include a witcher. Instead, the game may focus on other characters, such as sorceresses or vampires, rather than witchers.

What Will Be The Witcher 4’s Story?

What Will Be The Witcher 4’s Story?

Upon announcing The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red said, “We’re happy to announce that the next installment in The Witcher series of video games is currently in development, kicking off a new saga for the franchise.”

Intriguingly, this will “start a fresh story.” For example, one may argue that the phrase implies CD Projekt Red is planning for the long run with this project. Moreover, considering the many DLC expansions or sequels in addition to the fourth game makes these things more possible.

We know that The Witcher 4 will take up with Geralt after the events of The Witcher 3 and its DLCs. However, we still don’t know who the major antagonists or the game’s main narrative thrust will be.

Final Words – Witcher 4 Release Date, System Requirements, and More

We don’t know a lot about The Witcher 4. Still, the next game will certainly release in the future and is under development.

This time, CDPR’s focus is not only on licensing but also on a multi-year strategic partnership for potential future versions of the Witcher games.

We have high hopes that CD Projekt Red will draw lessons from its prior blunders and provide a perspective on The Witcher franchise that is more inclusive.

There is still a significant amount of time left until we see anything connected to this upcoming Witcher game. However, we hope the development team gives this one enough time to bake in the oven.
