So, what is the Hollow Knight 2 release date? There will be a Hollow Knight: Silksong, we promise. We finally got some new information about it as part of the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase. We have seen some gameplay and heard that a playable version of Hollow Knight: Silksong may be available within the next year. However, we still don’t have much information at this time.
Here is all we know about Hollow Knight: Silksong, despite lacking a clear release date.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Date
Around June 2023.
In the trailer that Australian developer Team Cherry first used to promote the game, they said they planned to release Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2019. Well, you would have noticed that 2019 was quite long ago, and we still don’t have the game with us yet; so, what happened?
Team Cherry is a fairly tiny studio, with just three or four regular staff members. Hence, it makes sense that major global events impact them more than anywhere else, and the development of Hollow Knight: Silksong has gotten suspended.
At first, we didn’t anticipate the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong until 2020. However, because of the widespread COVID-19 epidemic, the game’s production reached a standstill, and Team Cherry postponed the product’s release.
The much-anticipated video game made its long-awaited debut at the Xbox and Bethesda Games presentation when brand-new gameplay footage was shown to the public for the first time. Despite this, the developers have not announced the official release date.
Despite this, Xbox’s V.P. of Corporate Development, Sarah Bond, promised attendees that the games presented at the Xbox event would be available to order within the following year. This promise indicates that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available either in June 2023 or before.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Gaming Platforms
The platforms ‘Hollow Knight: Silksong’ is coming to are Nintendo Switch, PC, and as a day one addition to the Xbox Game Pass service.
Silksong might have a phased release, much like the original Hollow Knight. The first Hollow Knight was first exclusively available for the PC, then ported to the Switch, and then eventually released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Hence, its evident that Team Cherry has struck with Nintendo and Microsoft about the game’s status as an exclusive platform offering.
As the first game in the series was so popular across all platforms, we strongly suspect that the developers won’t permanently remove it from PlayStation consoles. However, until we learn more, the only places you can be certain to get the game when it launches are Nintendo consoles and PCs.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Trailer
There are 2 trailers for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Reveal Trailer
In February of 2019, the reveal trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong appeared, showcasing even more of the stunning animation and gameplay we witnessed in the original game. Naturally, the emphasis of the teaser is on the new playable character, Hornet, with whom we have already engaged in combat in Hollow Knight.
Watch the trailer here.
The transition from The Knight to Hornet involves more than simply a change in appearance. One of the things that contributes to her much more distinct personality is the fact that she can talk. The trailer also emphasizes numerous important aspects of the game, like 150 new foes, new bosses, friendly NPCs and towns with tasks to do, and items to locate and utilize.
Even though the visual style is obviously Hollow Knight, every location seen is entirely original. Some pieces of the tale have begun to take shape based on the little information provided in this video and further gameplay footage. After escaping prison, Hornet finds herself in a new kingdom called Pharloom or the ‘Shining Citadel’.
This kingdom is far from Hollownest, where a new and mysterious curse has affected most of the insect population. Therefore, she must navigate a series of platforms and engage in combat to reach the citadel at the very top of this area.
This level distinguishes most of the game’s previous levels, in which players made their way downward. The promotional video depicts many different settings that Hornet would go through on her mission.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Xbox Bethesda Showcase Gameplay Trailer
Hollow Knight: Silksong made an unexpected appearance during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase in 2022, complete with a trailer for the game. Even the official Xbox Twitter account shared the showcase trailer.
This event was the first time we saw the game marketed as coming to a platform other than Switch and PC. However, it was also when the developers disclosed that the game would be available on Game Pass on the same day it opened.
The trailer didn’t provide any hints as to when exactly that day will arrive, which is rather disappointing. Instead, we were just presented with more gameplay to look forward to in the future.
This latest trailer, 1 minute and 19 seconds long, reveals some further sneak glimpses of gameplay involving Hornet. You are welcome to have a look at it here.
The new teaser begins with white laser lights flashing across the screen and the sound of blades slashing. Then we see Hornet hopping across several levels. The main character in the next game travels through various environments, defeating enemies and navigating over obstacles.
Before the video highlights that the sequel will be coming to Game Pass, we get a glimpse of numerous kinds of environments as we see Hornet narrowly avoid death on several occasions.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Preorder: Is It Available?
The Switch and PC versions aren’t available for pre-order just yet, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get the game as soon as it launches. However, this limitation will remain until the developers determine a set release date. As a result, there is now simply the ability to add it to a wishlist on whatever service you like.
It is important to note that Team Cherry is keeping its initial commitments made during the Kickstarter campaign to provide all funders with free access to the DLC. Everyone who contributed to the first Kickstarter campaign will continue to get Silksong at no cost, despite transforming it from a downloadable content pack into a full, standalone sequel.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Gameplay
Regarding the gameplay of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the first and only video we had to base our judgments on was the game’s launch trailer. Although it was only an introduction to the sequel, we saw many clips of the main character, Hornet, engaging in combat, including her bounding and leaping over foes with skill. And now, thanks to the most recent teaser, it has been confirmed and expanded upon, with everything seeming to have an incredible fluidity.
Silksong will continue Hollow Knight’s unique combination of 2D fighting and platforming. The new protagonist, Hornet, seems to be a gymnast compared to the Knight, effortlessly flipping over massive foes. This style suggests that Team Cherry has developed the platforming much more acrobatic in Hornet than in the first game.
Healing is handled differently in Silksong compared to Hollow Knight’s system. Hornet’s ability to instantly repair three health nodes significantly improved over Knight’s method of replenishing health. Moreover, she can use it even while she’s in motion. However, Hornet has a Silk meter, and the bar gets automatically cleared once the healing depletes it of three health nodes.
Final Words – Hollow Knight 2 Release Date, System Requirements, and More

That’s all we know about Hollow Knight: Silksong for now, but we should have more details soon. We hope you found this guide useful.
